A fire broke out on Mt. Skopos early this evening around six o’clock.
Firefighters rushed to the scene to control the fire. In particular around 12 vehicles with 30 firefighters and help from the air, too.
The whole operation took around three hours for our firefighters to get the fire under control. With men on the ground and a team of two Canadair, 2 Petzl planes and an Erickson Helicopter they were able to avoid the worst.
The fire is now under control thanks to the speedy action of our fire department. However, teams will be in the area to patrol and make sure the fire doest restart. In difficult conditions our men are doing their best as always.
Once again Zakynthos Informer sends a huge THANK YOU.
I am sure that there were plenty of residents in awe of our pilots today, too here’s a few videos and pictures of our men in action:-
