Zakynthos in shock with the death of a young woman.
The news of a couple being attacked by unknown assailants has shocked the Zakynthian community.
A couple riding a motorcycle in the location of Agios Sostis in the area of Lithakia, was a attacked in what seems to be a mafia style hit.
News of the tragic event has stunned the community as the couple was very well known within the community. The 37 year old, a mother of three young children, and a well known business woman, was loved by many. Her death has caused people to wonder why such an extreme execution.
The target of the perpetrators is the 53-year-old.
The couple was driving when at 14:45 they were approached by a motorcycle with two riders coming from the opposite direction, who seemed to have been dressed as policemen, wearing black clothing, bullet proof vests and white helmets. Their motorbike was white to resemble a police motorcycle as well.
The couple was ambushed with a “rain” of fire from the two men. The 37-year-old woman died immediately after a bullet reached her head, while her husband a 53 year old (driver of the motorcycle) received three bullets, and was seriously injured. After the attack, he continued to move for a few meters, calling for help at a nearby friend’s house where an ambulance was called.
The perpetrators are described as “tall and short” while wearing dark clothes. After the mafia execution, whose target seemed to be the 53 year old businessman, they fled. The 53 year old man was being treated out of danger at the General Hospital of Zakynthos, but has now been transferred off the Island awaiting surgery to remove the bullet from his jaw.

On the video below it is reported that Police have video footage of the motorcycle with the two unknown assailants. In addition they have retrieved 7 shells and one bullet. Police are treating this case as a vendetta and are looking closely at previous events that the 53 year old may have been connected to.
