As of June 1st the famous main shopping road , Alaxander Roma street and May 21st street will become a road only for pedestrians.
The decision was made by the Mayor of Zakynthos.
As stated:-
According to par. 7 of no. 65 of L.4688 / 2020 (Government Gazette 101 / 24-05-2020), for imperative reasons of dealing with a serious risk to public health. Which also consists in reducing the risk of spread of coronavirus COVID-19, imposed as preventive measures and for the absolutely necessary period of time, temporary traffic measures and space expansion arrangements to serve pedestrians and those with mild forms of movement has been granted.
Following a decision of the Quality of Life Committee, which is issued by way of derogation from article 52 of the Road Traffic Code (Law 2696/1999, AD 57) and Article 225 of Law 3852/2010 (AD 87), and after According to the Technical Service, it is possible to prohibit the movement of vehicles on 21 May and Alexander Roma streets, either for certain hours of the day or for the whole day, as well as the temporary prohibition of stopping and parking, provided unconditional passage of vehicles.
The above decisions are valid for the period from 1/6/2021 to 30/11/2021.
The supply of the shops located within the area will take place in the morning 07.30 to 09.30 and in the afternoon 15.00 to 17.30 based on the Regulatory article 5 par.19.
