Zakynthos:- Quarantine Hotel

There are a few days left for the landmark date, on July 1st, when Greece opens its borders for tourism and so far, according to information from the Ministry of Tourism, 67% of the needs in quarantine hotels have been met, in 59 regional units.

One of those regions is Zakynthos. The hotel has been set aside for suspicious cases of possible COVID-19. The hotel itself is a 4 star hotel and will help in the combat of keeping possible cases low.

An additional 11% is expected to be covered by Tuesday, June 30, in areas that are not particularly touristy on the mainland.

As for the coverage of the remaining 22%, a business plan will be prepared by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

What the plan will provide

The plan stipulates that tourist areas that do not yet have quarantine hotels will be covered by neighboring areas. For example, Symi from Rhodes, the small Cyclades from Naxos and so on. In any case, the design for quarantine hotels will be finalized by July 1, when the borders are reopened.

When the needs for quarantine hotels for the whole country are met, the obligation of hotels to have empty rooms for hosting any Covid-19 cases is removed.

Concerns.

Also, the information states that most hotels (especially luxury ones) will keep quarantine rooms, as a tourist who stays in a five star hotel will hardly go to stay in a room of 30 euros.

However, there is further concern as a 5-star hotel tourist as well as hotel staff find it difficult to come to terms with the idea of having quarantine rooms in the same area.

Minisiter of Tourism: These are quarantine tourist accommodation

In any case, the Ministry of Tourism announced the tourist accommodation that will be rented exclusively for the temporary stay of individuals in the context of dealing with the risk of transmission of the coronavirus. One of them is on our island, while in total in the Ionian Region there are 5 in number, since there are two more in Kefalonia, one in Corfu and one in Lefkada.

It is recalled that a joint decision of the Ministers of Economy, Health and Tourism stipulates that in the hotel units will be created rooms – isolation areas – for cases of hospitalization of confirmed cases of COVID-19, whose clinical condition does not require hospital treatment.

This temporary solution complements the creation of a “quarantine” hotel network and allows the safe opening of Greek tourism. Therefore, what is provided in the KYA is valid at least until it is defined in the relevant Regional Unit or island, accommodation for the temporary stay of individuals to deal with the risk of COVID-19 transmission, as reported by APE-MPE.
