Five million euros for flood protection in the Ionian Islands Region
1,500,000 euros for Zakynthos
With the securing of a new financing amounting to 5,000,000 euros, which was approved this month by the Ministry of Development and Investment, the Regional Authority continues at a steady pace the flood protection of the Ionian Islands with projects that have been evaluated as a priority, based on their urgency and in order to shield them even more in the face of frequent extreme weather events.
The Regional Council of the Ionian Islands in its regular meeting, held by teleconference through the service e: Presence.gov.gr discussing the issue of amending the Annual Action Plan 2020 and the reform of the 2020 Budget of the Ionian Islands Region proceeded to the acceptance and distribution of financing with the registration of a new project in SAEP522 of the Public Investment Program (PDE) 2020 of the Ionian Islands Region entitled “Maintenance – Restoration of flood works of the Ionian Islands Region”, according to the 13-10-2020 Decision of the Ministry of Development and Investments with a total budget of € 5,000,000.
According to the approved Technical Project Bulletin (TD), sub-projects are included for each island, according to which in Zakynthos correspond to € 1,500,000.
The Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands Rodi Kratsa – Tsagaropoulou states that “the goal of the Regional Authority is the fortification of each area and the security of all local communities of the Ionian Islands from the effects of extreme weather events, both with direct interventions and appropriate infrastructure special studies. We give definitive solutions to pathogenesis of years with anticipation and improvement of everyday life “.
