Recently the Zakynthos Informer team sent an e-mail to the UK Government Aviation Directorate Department for Transport.
As our members were asking questions in relations to travelling to Zakynthos in summer 2021. The letter we sent read as:-
We are currently being inundated with questions about travelling this summer and while we are up to date with the latest information as we follow all of your news releases very carefully, there are a few things our members are very worried about currently. The questions that keep coming up from our members, that we are unable to answer is as follows:If/when travel is opened up again this summer for UK residents to travel abroad, our members have concerns around the vaccinations. The biggest concern is for those who are unable to get vaccinated due to allergies or medical conditions. What will be put in place in order for them to be able to travel if a country insists on travellers having proof of vaccination? No one can currently answer this and is deeply worrying for people. The second and last question is, what will happen for those tourists who have already booked and paid for their trips, but haven’t had a vaccination by the time their travel date comes around? Will they still be able to travel? Many Tour Operators are being asked the question and not answering as they just don’t know the answer themselves, understandably it’s leaving tourists worried for their holiday and the money they have already spent.Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you soon so that we can give our members some reassurance on these points.Kind regardsThe Zakynthos Informer Team
We recieved a reply informing us that the task forece will be giving its recommendations in regards to a return to international travel on the 12th of April. Until then it is truly difficult to say what will exactly happen in the near future. Below is the reply we recieved.
