Press release from the Civil Protection, N. Hardalias. Measures from 6th February, 2021

Good evening from Civil Protection. The epidemiological picture of our country and not only, which is presented to us in detail every week by our Professors, Mrs. Papaevangelou and Mr. Majorkinis, is not static.

The epidemiological data are constantly changing, which is why we monitor them closely and any change in them is examined and evaluated. And every Friday, following the meeting of the Committee of Infectious Diseases, we proceed to the relevant announcements.

So, according to the epidemiological burden that is observed in each region and based on the current proposals of the Commission, let us see what will apply from Saturday at 6 in the morning.

Most of the country is still in a stable epidemiological situation and the measures we announced last week for Level A, the Yellow, are still in force.

In areas with a higher epidemiological burden, as we all know, the additional restrictive measures we announced last week for Level B – Red apply.

The following areas remain in this status for the next 7 days. The Municipality of Eordea in the Regional Unit of Kozani remains in the “red”, which today has 59 active cases, while it had 74 active cases on January 9, with the additional restrictive measures in force since December 17.

The Municipalities of Thebes and Tanagra of the Regional Unit of Boeotia remain in the “red”, which have 46 and 36 active cases respectively, when on January 12, when the restrictive measures for the Regional Unit of Boeotia came into force, the Municipality of Thebes had 67 active cases and the Municipality of Tanagra 21.

That is, in the Municipality of Thebes, the viral load seems to be declining, but it has not yet reached the desired level. In the Municipality of Tanagra, unfortunately, the viral load seems to be increasing despite the additional measures that have been taken.

The Municipality of Sparta of the Regional Unit of Laconia remains in the “red”, where there is an increase in the viral load. More specifically, Sparta had 53 active cases on January 14, when the additional measures came into force, and today it has 77.

Zakynthos remains in the “red” where there were 23 active cases on the 1st of February when the additional restrictive measures came into force and at the moment the active cases are 33.

The Regional Unit of Lesvos also remains in the “red” areas, where on January 13, when the additional restrictive measures came into force, there were 112 active cases and currently the active cases are 74.

Now, the following 5 areas are included in the “red” areas from tomorrow.

The Municipality of Rethymno of the Regional Unit of Rethymnon which had 17 active cases on January 25 and currently has 51. It should be noted that in the case of the Municipality of Rethymno there is a large increase in cases, especially in recent days.

The Municipality of Pydna Kolindros of the Peripheral Unit of Pieria, where on January 25 there were 19 active cases and have increased to 33.

The Municipality of Dirfion Messapia of the Regional Unit of Evia, where there were 23 active cases on January 25 and have increased to 59.

The Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini of the Regional Unit of Ilia, where the active cases have increased from 7 on January 25 to 49. That is, within 11 days, the active cases have increased by 600%.

And the Municipality of Tempi of the Regional Unit of Larissa, where the active cases have increased to 32 from 5 that was on January 25th.

So I repeat, the “red” areas from tomorrow morning will include the Municipality of Eordaia, the Municipality of Thebes, the Municipality of Tanagra, the Municipality of Sparta, the Municipality of Zakynthos, the Peripheral Unit of Lesvos, the Municipality of Rethymno, the Municipality of Pydna Kolindos Dirfion Messapion, the Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini and the Municipality of Tempi.

At this point, I would like to emphasize that in addition to the above areas, the epidemiological burden was assessed today by the Committee of Epidemiologists, as particularly high and dangerous in 5 Municipalities. In the Municipalities of Thira, Mykonos, Chalkida, Patras and Agios Nikolaos, Crete.

More specifically in the Municipality of Thira of the Peripheral Unit of Thira the active cases were 34 on January 30, when the additional restrictive measures came into force and at the moment it is 45.

Respectively, the Municipality of Mykonos had 25 active cases on January 30, when the additional restrictive measures came into force and today it has doubled them to 50. So, despite the measures, the number of cases has doubled.

The Municipality of Chalkida of the Regional Unit of Evia had 189 active cases on January 30, when the additional restrictive measures came into force and currently has 292 active cases. That is, within a few days the cases have increased by 35%.

In the Municipality of Patras of the Regional Unit of Achaia, the active cases were 173 on January 30, when the additional restrictive measures came into force and at the moment it is 349. In other words, they have more than doubled within a few days. The increase of cases reaches 50.43%.

Finally, the increasing trend of cases is observed in the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos of the Regional Unit of Lassithi. More specifically, the active cases on February 1, when the additional measures took effect were 43 and currently are 78.

The epidemiological picture of these five areas makes it necessary to take further restrictive measures in relation to those that apply to the “red” areas in order to reverse the spread of the virus.

More specifically, in these areas and from tomorrow Saturday, at 6 in the morning, the operation of retail will be suspended as well as hairdressers, barbershops, beauty centers, as well as diet services and diet units, personal hygiene and body care services, but and KTEO and OPAP agencies.

Only supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies remain open. The lifelong operation of schools of all levels and kindergartens is also suspended. The schools will operate with the method of distance learning.

It should be noted that Primary schools and kindergartens will continue to operate in the Municipalities of Mykonos and Thira only, due to the non-detection of mutations, but also the special characteristics of the causes of the spread of the virus on these islands.

Movements to and from these Municipalities are minimized. Entry and exit from these five Municipalities will be allowed only for work purposes.

The courts are also suspended.

It is not allowed to perform any kind of services and rituals in the presence of believers in places of worship, with the exception of funerals, as well as individual prayer.

In addition, given the findings of the tracking, construction activity in these areas is suspended for the next 15 days.

It is reminded that in these areas, as well as in the “red” areas, the movement of citizens from 6 pm to 5 am is not allowed, with the sole exception of moving for health reasons, for work reasons and for a short pet walk. around the permanent residence, while they remain in suspension of any kind of sports activity, as well as operation of cultural places.

Particularly for these areas, we would like to emphasize the need for faithful, strict observance of both the measure of mandatory mask use indoors and outdoors and the observance of distances, as well as the application of telework as much as possible, at least 50% for these areas.

The restaurants operate as in the whole country with the method of take away and delivery. As for take away, it is reminded that this is not an independent reason for moving.

Now, in the cases of Attica, the Thessaloniki Regional Unit and the Halkidiki Regional Unit, the discussion in the Commission, as I think you have already been informed and understood, was thorough and detailed.

All epidemiological data were evaluated, including current indicators, but also issues related to mobility and indicators that determine the evolution of the pandemic and it was decided in principle the inclusion of the Thessaloniki Regional Unit in the “red areas”, where Halkidiki is also located. .

Also, the following measures were decided for the three regions: Attica, Thessaloniki and Halkidiki.

Suspension of operation of Lyceums for life and application of the method of distance education and operation of other school levels and kindergartens with physical presence.

Operation of the retail trade and the activities that until today had been opened with the method of click away only. That is, there is no click in shop method.

Hairdressers, barbers, beauty centers, as well as diet services and diet units, personal hygiene and body care services, but also KTEOs operate normally with the terms and measures that already apply.

(OPAP agencies were inadvertently mentioned, which remain closed in these areas).

Both retail and these stores and services, it is clarified that will operate from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 pm only. They will be closed on Saturday.

On Saturday, only supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, gas stations and pharmacies remain open and only from 7 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.

It is clarified that the operation of public markets is also suspended on weekends. The specific provision concerning the public markets will be valid from next weekend.

Also, every Saturday and Sunday transportation is done only by SMS and for the 6 reasons that accompany its use and only until 6 in the afternoon.

The curfew for Saturday and Sunday starts at 6 pm and is valid until 5 am. Places of worship function in the way that is valid until today.

These measures are valid from tomorrow morning at 6 and until Monday 15 February.

These three areas, Attica, Thessaloniki and Halkidiki, as well as the five areas of high increased epidemiological risk, namely Patras, Chalkida, Mykonos, Santorini and Agios Nikolaos remain in a state of daily epidemiological observation and the evolution of the pandemic will be evaluated daily. and in relation to both the daily epidemiological data and the tracing results of the cases and their close contacts.

In conclusion, it should be noted that due to the epidemiological picture throughout the country and due to the thorough discussion that took place for each region, at today’s meeting of the Infectious Diseases Committee no other issues were discussed, nor requests of the various Ministries, such as the Ministry of Sports. were about restarting more sports and not just activities.

We understand and share the concerns and consequences, financial, competitive and psychological, in amateur sports that is a large part of our society. But we ask for patience. We hope to have a better picture in the coming days and to be able to have news about the athletic family of our country.

Once again we point out that decisions to open or not specific activities are a multifactorial equation. Any decision is not based on obsessive syndromes, neither of Government officials, nor of epidemiologists. It should be understood that any opening of activities has an increasing effect on mobility, the so-called mobility.

The greater the mobility, the greater the risk for further spread and spread of the virus, because mobility means contacts, few, many, sparse, frequent, yet contacts.

So the question is not whether to open something by applying all the health protocols. After all, no one supports an opening without protocols. The question is whether the opening of specific activities increases mobility, but also how it burdens the control mechanisms and how much it increases the risk of dispersion. So it takes patience, perseverance, an effort to understand the evolution of the pandemic and not screams, curses and extreme approaches.

The government is monitoring the data and following the proposals and evaluations of the country’s top epidemiologists. Because the bigger picture, the health condition of our fellow citizens is paramount than anything else. After all, as we all know, the only criterion for any decision is the data. These dictate in which direction we should move. At the moment, the epidemiological picture of the country, as well as the data from other countries, show that we must remain vigilant.

We know that after 11 months of effort we all, but all, are tired. But we are giving the whole world a constant battle. It is not easy, but it already seems light, as the start of vaccinations brings us closer to the end of the pandemic.

We all need to continue to show patience and perseverance, in order to remain safe until we finally leave behind this unprecedented circumstance. Thank you.

For Zakynthos

As cases are increasing. for now our government has put us in a red zone area for another seven days. However, we do not have the “extra” restrictions as the five areas classed in the deep red zones, which have been stated above. At the moment we have a total of 33 active cases and therefore we need to adhere to the restrictions that have been imposed. Schools will operate as they did last week, however after yesterday’s announcement of the restrictions and another announcement that a 10 year old has been confirmed with coronavirus, residents are concerned that this may cause an extra alarm to our community and are calling to authorities to close all schools.

A reminder of our restrictions for Level B high risk red zone.

The restrictive measures that apply in the “red” areas (Level BD – Increased Risk)
At level B, of increased risk, in the “red” areas, ie the following measures will apply:

1st. The traffic ban from 6 in the afternoon until 5 in the morning, except in Attica.

2nd. Only the Gymnasiums operate for a living (the Lyceums operate with distance education)

3rd. In places of worship, up to 9 people are allowed to perform services.

4th. The operation of stores is done with the method of click away delivery. In the clothing, footwear stores, as well as hairdressers, treatment shops and bookstores is done with the procedure of the pre-arranged appointment.

The horizontal measures that apply to the whole territory
At both levels – that is, throughout the territory – horizontal measures apply, which are the basis of our effort. These measures are as follows:

– Use of mask indoors and outdoors.

-24 hour traffic restriction using SMS to 13033 for only six reasons.

-Work with the least possible staff (rotation, telework) in private and public sector. -Tele-education in Higher Education Institutions.

-Kindergartens, Primary schools and all Special Education schools are open at all levels.

– Functioning of Supreme Courts and Special Courts.

-Super League 1 & 2 and Basketball League operation.

-From Monday, February 1, the older students return to their desks. In the “red” areas only high schools open and not lyceums

We remind you that masks must be worn everywhere and the social distancing rule still applies.
