On Sunday, March 28, we turn our clocks to summer time.
What has been decided within the European Union in regards to abolishing daylight saving.
The time change for 2021 will take place on March 28, Sunday. The clocks will turn one hour forward.
More specifically, in the early hours of Sunday 28 March and specifically at 03:00 the indicators should show 04:00 (on mobiles and computers the process is automatic).
What has been decided in the EU
According to the decision of the European Parliament, the change of time must stop on the last Sunday of March 2021 for the countries of the European Union, which want to maintain the summer time permanently.
Instead, for Member States wishing for winter time, the change will take place on the last Sunday in October 2021.
On 26 March 2019, the European Parliament approved the Commission proposal to end the practice of changing the time.
However, the final decision on when the Commission proposal will enter into force depends on the Council of the EU and the European Parliament. The EU Council has not yet finalizing its position.
Since when is it valid in our country
In Greece, daylight saving time was applied for the first time, on a trial basis, in 1932 and specifically from July 6 to September 1, when the clocks were set one hour ahead. But then it was abolished.
However, in the 1970s, it was decided to adopt the summer time measure by many EU countries, including Greece, starting in 1975.
