Tsilivi…. Celebrating the Zakynthian “FITOURA”.

The president and board members of the cultural and  Internal Association of Planos “To Tsilivi” have organised a festival on the 1st September to honour the tradition Zakynthian sweet known as “Fitoura” or  otherwise known as “Fritoura”

“It is imperative and we have a duty, especially in today’s times, to create and establish events from our daily lives in order to pass them on to the next generations,” the president Spyros Mavrias states.

The decision to establish the festival of the “Fitoura” has been decided upon the 1st Saturday of every September. Therefore this year the festival will fall on Saturday 2nd of September 2023.  The well-known traditional Zakynthian sweet is very popular during religious events and not only.
The sweet itself is characterized as the “poor sweet of our Patron Saint, Dionysios” and is purely a Zakynthos product, whilst made only in Zakynthos.

It is the first time that this celebration will take place on our island all are invited to join in the celebrations Saturday 2nd September, 2023 at the Primary School of Planos at 19.00 pm.
– Our “Fitoura” will be offered free of charge by the Association.
– In addition there will be live music
– The traditional dance group “ANTONIS MILANOS” will be present
– There will be grilled food and refreshments available
– And reference will be made to the History of the Fitoura

All this together with the tradition will bring us together and we will feel that we will all contribute to the establishment of the festival of Fritoura”.To get up-to-date news or more information about Zakynthos, join our Facebook group or follow our Twitter feed.
