Greece is celebrating its 157th anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands. Of course Zakynthos is celebrating too. Our National poet Dionysios Solomos, a Zakynthian devoted his time and effort writing and his master piece is that of “Hymn to Liberty”. the first two stanzas along with the music that was set by Nicolaos Mantzaros are now the Greek and Cypriot national Anthem.
