Fire in Varybobi: The last person trapped rescued – More than 200 trapped including the Hellenic Police Dept and Fire Department.
Two elderly people who were trapped in the area of Thrakomakedones were rescued – Among those trapped were DIAS police officers and firefighters – The fire is ongoing in Varybobi.
Citizens in Varybobi who had reported being trapped in various places due to the fire were safely removed by phone calls to the Immediate Action Centre, while also, as it became known by the Police, the danger passed for policemen who were trapped with firefighters at a point near fire.
In the video we can see that police after being told that people were trapped inside, tried to break the door to save those inside.
Rescues
By nine o’clock in the evening, police and firefighters had liberated more than 200 civilians from the areas hit by the blaze.
As it became known, it was a DIAS team that was with the firefighters at the specific point where the situation calmed down and now they can leave without danger. Police are currently searching door-to-door for people who may have refused to leave their homes.
