The administration of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation (PNO), during its meeting on 27-10-2021, declared a 48-hour nationwide strike on the passenger ships Mediterranean-Mediterranean / tourist-ferries) starting from tomorrow Wednesday 10-11-2021 at 06:01 until Friday 12-11-2021 at 06:01, with the prospect of escalation.
In a statement, the Federation of Sailors speaks of “complete reluctance and negative behavior of the employer in order to draw up a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for the years 2020 and 2021 with real and substantial increases, but also to staff ships based on modern and real needs “.
Adding, “Despite the constant pressures and protests, the already existing problems faced by the seafarers’ sector are not only are not resolved but continue to accumulate daily, culminating in a series of anti-labor laws under the pretext of the pandemic and the continued implementation of the N. 4150/2013 for the reduced and special compositions on the passenger Mediterranean and coastal ships, of Law 4714/2020, which intervenes in the internal autonomy and operation of the unions, the permanent violation of the Collective Labor Agreements and especially in terms of hours employment and the payment of accrued salaries as well as the continuing unemployment of the sector, without any measures being taken for its recovery “.
According to PNO, during the strike, pre-rallies will be held at 05:30 in the area inside the port, opposite the power station, while the strike rally will take place on 11-11-2021 in the same area at 10:30a.m of the same day.
