As extreme weather conditions have caused problems concerning fire risks, a complete ban takes place. The ban has been put into action by our Fire Department in an effort to keep our forests safe.
“We are imposing a ban on pedestrians and vehicles. From 18.00 p.m (yesterday) 10/08/19 until 06.00 a.m the following morning (Monday) 12/08/19. Throughout the entire 2019 fire season bans will be on the following forest roads and areas: Vougiato, Lagadakia, Foliti, Gallaro, Agios Pantes, Drakas, Skulikado, Kallithea, Pigadakia, Lagopodo, Macherado – (Kataloupou Area), Katastari, Keri, Marathi, Apellati, Agalas, Lithakia, Alykes, Maries. Agio Leonta, Gyri, Exohora, Loucha, Orthonia, Anafonitria, Volimes, Ano Volimes and the forests of Kalamaki, Bochalis, Vasilikos – Skopos as well as the prohibition every time the Fire Prevention Policy forecast for the Zakynthos Regional Unit is at risk category 4 (Very High) and 5 (Alarm Status). The above is valid until the end of the fire season ie 31-10-2019.
The implementation of this law is entrusted to the Zakynthos Forestry Directorate and the Fire Brigade Police. “
