American Airlines launches a direct flight this summer, joining the two cities and boosting their tourism.
Athens-Chicago will become ‘a short flight’ this summer, thanks to American Airlines who will begin a new daily, direct, connection between the two cities, as announced at a special event held by the company in Athens on 06/03, in the presence of representatives of the tourism industry of Greece, the commercial department of the US Embassy in Athens and the Federation of Greek Association of Travel & Tourism Offices, FedHATTA. This move is important not only to boost the tourist flow from the USA to Greece and vice versa, but also because it is an important example of the recognition of the dynamics of Greek tourism.
According to data from the Bank of Greece, in 2018, tourism from the US to our country increased by 26.9%, with a corresponding increase in revenues to 28.1%, which was translated to 1.043 billion.
FedHATTA, however, aims at enhancing the tourist traffic of Greece and the United States, even discussing with the commercial department of the US Embassy in Athens to promote the United States to Greek travellers.
