Whilst the Government is taking into consideration new measures suggested, transport has become more strict.
Yesterday’s additional measures to ban traffic and restrictions on the movement of passengers by any means of public or private use (such as taxis, trolley buses, coaches, etc.) were announced.
By a circular signed by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Yiannis Kefalogiannis, to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, these measures are valid until 31.5.2020 and may be extended if emergency conditions so require.
Details are provided:
-For passenger cars up to 5 seats, public, or private, one passenger is allowed.
– AN EXCEPTION, the transfer of a second passenger is also permitted if the transfer IS REQUIRED for medical reasons (transfer to a hospital, medical center or other hospital).
-For 6 or 7-seat passenger cars, public or private, two passengers are allowed.
– For 8 or 9 seater vehicles, public or private, three passengers are allowed.
In the above cases, EXCEPTIONS ONLY permissible to exceed the passenger limits, if a parent with a minor child is on board the vehicle. Also for all public utility buses (OSY buses and trolleys, OASTH buses, city and intercity buses, individual freight motor coaches and coach buses) or private buses, including By public transport, passengers are allowed to carry up to 50% of the intended seats of the vehicle.
The ministry’s circular also allows businesses with Special Public Use Tour Buses or Special Urban Open City Tour Buses to temporarily lodge their vehicle registration and government license plates. Provisional immunity granted until 31st May.
