The coronavirus will keep the planes away until May 15th to and from Greece from many European countries and Turkey. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, flights suspension has been extended from 15th April 2020 to 15th May to Italy, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany.
Only arrivals / departures from / to Germany for Athens airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” are allowed. There is also a temporary ban on non-European citizens entering the country.
Specifically, on Holy Wednesday, April 15th, 2020 to May 15, 2020, at 23:59 local time, the suspension of all flights, passenger transport, to and from the airports of these countries will be extended. Especially with regard to Germany, only flights from / to Athens Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” are allowed.
As with the previous NOTAMS issued by the CAA, the temporary suspension of flights excludes cargo flights, sanitary, humanitarian aid, aircraft return flights only with its crew (ferry) flights), state flights, state-of-the-art emergency flights, military flights (military, these flights do not apply to Turkey), Frontex flights, refuelling, support flights of the National Health System of our country and the flights of repatriation of Greek Citizens.
The temporary ban on entry into the country of non-European citizens is also extended with the following exceptions: Members of European Citizens’ families, citizens of Schengen countries, health personnel, third-country nationals who have a long-term visa in a European country and a Schengen Diplomatic country , military, humanitarian personnel, aircraft crews and those non-European citizens who have obtained a permit for their trip from the Greek Consulate.
