Coronavirus Update – New case and One citizen in ICU

A 53 year old lady, Foreign citizen, permanent resident of Zakynthos is the latest positive case of Coronavirus. She tested positive  short while ago after the PCR test at Zakynthos General Hospital.

This is classed as an orphan case and the lady had not been in contact with any previously diagnosed cases.

Fortunately she only has mild symptoms and is in quarantine at home.

The health of a 73 year old fellow citizen, who had been hospitalised with Covid the last few days, unfortunately took a turn for the worse this morning. It was deemed necessary to transfer him to the ICU of the hospital where he was intubated intubated.

Currently there  are five patients in the Corona clinic and one in the ICU

Update 17.10

The check ups that are done daily at the hospital for the medical staff, had the result of finding another positive case today.

The PCR test of the 35 year old nursing assistant was positive for covid.

The 35 year old will be under 10 quarantine, while tracking of her contacts is in progress.

The quarantine is 10 days for the sick health workers and 7 days of preventive quarantine for the non-sick health workers.

Update 22,10

A short while ago 21 year old nursing assistant was also tested positive with the covid virus. She has mild symptoms and has started her 10 day quarantine at home.

So with the 35-year-old, the medical staff who have fallen ill in the hospital of our island are 7 , while there is also 1 from the cleaning department.

We wish them and all the other citizens of Zakynthos a speedy recovery.
