Coronavirus updates. 27 new cases recorded yesterday. Zakynthos tests begin on UK visitors.

27 new cases of the new virus recorded yesterday in the country, of which 4 were detected after checks at the country’s gateways. The total number of cases is 3910, of which 54.7% are men.

 

1051 (26.9%) are considered related to travel from abroad and 2024 (51.8%) are related to an already known case.

 

13 of our fellow citizens are being treated by intubation. Their median age is 58 years. 3 (23.1%) are women and the rest are men. 76.9% have an underlying disease or are aged 70 years and older. 123 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

 

Finally, no new deaths have been recorded and we have a total of 193 deaths in the country. 62 (32.1%) women and the rest men. The median age of our dying fellow citizens was 76 years and 95.9% had some underlying disease and / or age 70 years and over. ”

 

The distribution of cases.

Out of 27 newly confirmed cases, 4 were identified during the checks carried out at the country’s entrance gates, while another 5 from tourists who had come to Greece in the previous days and came voluntarily for a check-up,

The remaining 18 cases were identified:

  • 8 in the regional unit of Attica
  • 5 in the peripheral unit of Thessaloniki
  • 2 in the regional unit of Grevena
  • 1 in the regional unit of Xanthi
  • 1 in the peripheral unit of Kastoria

Zakynthos.

No new cases are recorded.

UK passengers arriving yesterday were randonly tested. We remind you that 250 tests are taken daily.

Depending on your QC bar code for covid-19 you will either be tested randomly or allowed through without a test. However, our Government are tightening controls by testing randomly regardless of your bar code. Results are made within 24 hours. If you are positive you will be notified of the fact and tracking the source will automatically commence. Those positive will come under the guidance of our Health Aurthorites and all necessary protocols will be taken.

Once again wearing masks in closed public places is compulsory. Washing hands is strongly recommended at regular intervals during the day.
