Distribution of special leaflets in 4 languages has already started at “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport
Effective from today, March 20th, 2020 at 12 noon, the mandatory home quarantine measure for those who arrive in Greece by air from foreign countries has been imposed. The measure was ordered by Deputy Undersecretary for Citizen Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Chardalia to curb the spread of coronavirus, whilst police also have a role to play in securing this obligation.
Specifically, according to the general plan, police officers will examine whether airline passengers are actually quarantined in their homes, either by on-the-spot checks or by regular telephone calls to their land-line phones. However, this has not yet begun, as according to information from the Ministry of Citizen Protection, a relevant legislative act is expected, with criminal penalties for offenders as well as a fine of 5,000 Euros.
At the same time, according to Hellenic Police Department’s plan for measures to restrict citizens, patrols are launched immediately with loudspeakers in which police officers will inform citizens that public gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited.
Distribution of special leaflets in 4 languages (Greek, English, French and German) has already begun at the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. This information material, based on the directions given by the Hellenic Health Institution, is distributed by the staff of the Fire Department to all those who enter our country, noting in particular the obligation of strict observance of the 14-day quarantine
