As the social media with pictures of a drilling platform being pulled across out waters, spread like “wildfire,” concerns that drilling for oil in our area became the converation for fake news. Zakynthos Informer was also plagued with the fake news and our team immediately tried to find out the source and of the news.
After talking to some of our sources we then found a complete story by our local newspaer HMERA, which also confirmed that our sources were correct. As our local newspapers do we make sure that the information we are giving out is correct and we only get our information from reliable sources.
Here is what HMERA newspaper had to say.
Fake news disrupts society and especially when a society is narrow-minded, the problems can be both criminal and more.
At the moment when people are trying to manage fake news on social media, people are incredibly loyal to the “ridiculous stupidity” released … they do not check what’s going on and mostly reproduce without worrying about where the source was released from… who and why the report was started in the first place.
The second part is about “budding journalists” who, because they once caught a picture … or played with a microphone, a pen, or a camera, they declare themselves as “opinion formers” without any background checking of validity, intersection, and mainly responsibility.
Whoever wants to write-publicly, (journalistically), must know that he or she has responsibilities and performs a functioning role. It’s like someone who wants to be a doctor or a dentist and has to remove teeth from people … anyone can, however, would you trust them?
So today, in the depths of the ocean’s horizon of the vast Ionian Sea, a hydrocarbon pumping platform was thrusted onto a trailer!
It is not the first time that this phenomenon has taken place in the Ionian Sea, and even in the recent past, one had a stop at the commercial harbour next to Astakos in Aitoloakarnania … for the Saronic Gulf to be decommissioned…
The story goes; as soon as the tug arrived at Kephalonia … the neighbours discovered Atlantis and that the platform came out of the Ionian Sea and especially between Kephalonia and Zakynthos!
The story soon was captured by leaders of the social network and it wasn’t long before others passed on the fake information, these are sites that have no recognition from the state … But there are also have a lot to gain, they make money!
It is clearly notable that “fake news” for them is their treasure” …
When correct information for the citizen at hand goes through hard work, and when detailed briefings of thousands of words and hours have been made … there are those who chose to not understand this and make people. “talk”?
What is valid from official lips: or as we would say straight from the horse’s mouth!
- In the case of mining, it is a National affair, it concerns the country we live in, and decisions are taken unanimously by the major parties and governments of the last 10 years.
- Local and regional societies had an infinite amount of time to protest when they had to, and did not do so, with the logic of “sit back and let others do it”

- There is NO movement at all in trial drillings, the existence of such will not be until the end of 2019 and we will see if it happens…
- The trial drilling process … when done … will be done with a special ship and NOT with a platform.
- The Hellenic Republic, which has undertaken the project today, also said responsibly to our newspaper that they have no presence in the Ionian Sea during this period and have nothing to do with the platform that is making its way through our area …
- Perhaps even this time, the platform has left the domestic waters of Kefalonia and Zakynthos … it has already gone way pass the island of Zakynthos, note on the photo and where it is in relation to our harbour and where it is heading compared to our shipping line.
The worst is the analgesia and irresponsibility that we have as a race … and the way we are crowned that we have discovered the “fire” provided that we are addressing a world that unfortunately is trustworthy …
No ladies and gentlemen, to social media and the Fake news people, we will never be a means of misinforming … So beware as to why they are doing harm to our mental health !!!

So, to answer the question, is Zakynthos under drilling exploitations?… NO, it is not.
