The purpose of “Greece 2021”.
The purpose of the Commission “Greece 2021”, in addition to planning the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution, is to organize a comprehensive program of actions and events aiming to reconstitute Greece from the beginning of its modern history up to today, in the course of those 200 years. Achievements will be highlighted, and throughout the 200 years there are many.
Priorities
As stated on Greece2021 website, the first task of the Commission will be to create a Calendar listing all actions planned and implemented by institutions, universities, local authorities and other bodies.
The second task will be the plenary management of proposals put forward by various bodies and individuals. Proposals will be submitted through the digital platform developed, which will be evaluated by the members of the plenary. The design of the overall program will take into account, inter alia, elements such as the compatibility of the proposals with the programme’s axes or the possibility of combining the proposals together to increase their scope.
The third and most important task of the plenary will be to design actions that will be proposed to the appropriate bodies in order to implement them. The aim is to encourage as many players as possible to participate in the GREECE 2021 Program, to “show our respect for our History, honor our people, get to know and highlight our country and plan our future.” The Commission has significant comparative advantages in implementing this project. First of all, the plenary staffing guarantees the quality of the proposals that will be made. Also, only the Commission has the capacity to act nationwide, since it is called upon to involve the last village in the country, with no exceptions but with persistence within the framework of the four axes. Finally, the Commission has the legitimacy to act on behalf of the State, not with the aim of promoting or owning the actions that will be taken, but creating a positive momentum within society for the 200th anniversary.
