Greece:- 250 sample tests from tourists Negative of Covid-19.

Good news from the results of the sampling tests that took place yesterday as tourism started at the country’s airport in regards to coronavirus.

Specifically, as it became known this morning, the first 250 tourist tests from Heraklion, Crete, all came out negative. During the day, the results of at least 6,500 inspections carried out on an equal number of passengers on approximately 235 international flights will be announced continuously.

It is noted that the inspections will continue throughout the next period at an intensive pace in order to identify timely cases of infection of foreign visitors by the new coronavirus.

How to select the travellers to be tested.

Sample inspections in our country for foreign visitors are based on smart software and a special algorithm applied by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

It is reminded that the passenger identification form (PLF) is a key element in the design of our country and will be valid until Monday, August 31, 202. Travellers completing the PLF provide information about the airport of departure, their address of residence, their time of stay in Greece, as well as other information, as specified in the form. This information is processed by an algorithm so that the passenger has a low or high probability of contracting the coronavirus.

With the completion of the special form, the traveller automatically receives in his e-mail or mobile phone, a barcode with which he will be able to travel. Passengers entering the country by air, after their arrival is transported to the place where the control staff and “checks” the barcode.

If, after processing the passenger’s information, the passenger is selected to undergo a coronary test, he is obliged to consent to the inspection.

The passenger will then have to remain in solitary confinement for 24 hours and until the results are sent to the residence address he has declared. The accommodation, which accommodates the traveller, is informed of the self-isolation. It is noted that the cost is covered by the travellers as the isolation in a hotel with the expenses of the Greek state for the period is no longer valid until the results of the test come out.

What happens when a traveller is positive about the coronavirus?

If the test result is negative, the traveller is free to move anywhere in the country. Conversely, if the test result is positive in Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, then the patient will enter a 14-day quarantine with the state covering the costs, ie accommodation, meals and medical care.

In particular, if the patient does not need treatment, he remains in the quarantine hotel for 14 days, while if he needs to be treated, he is provided with full medical care in a hospital in the country. If the traveller does not have insurance coverage, access to the country’s services is free.

“We are not worried about the islands, but about the overcrowding and the parties”

At the same time, the president of the hospital doctors, Matina Pagoni, described the “first test” of tourist arrivals in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, speaking on SKAI TV.

“Yes, people on the islands want tourism, but they are afraid that if there is a case, how will it be treated,” she explained, but assured that possible cases on the island will be addressed.

“The doctors have been informed. There are specific protocols. There must be trust in the Greek scientific world “, said Mrs. Pagoni and admitted that there is concern for the big cities, for the phenomena of holding parties and crowding.

At the same time, regarding the results of the tests for the coronavirus, which were submitted to tourists who arrived in Greece yesterday, the president of the hospital doctors clarified that they will leave this afternoon.

“It simply came to our notice then. We will have the first picture “, he said characteristically on the TV station, adding that the tests will continue.
