Greece:- Coronavirus: Government says ‘no’ to school closures and lockdowns even if Experts request it

Thanos Plevris and Niki Kerameos ruled out any possibility of suspending the operation of schools, as well as horizontal restrictive measures in the country. “There will be no lockdown again, even if the Commission says so,” said Makis Voridis.

In the same style and tone, the government continues to rule out any possibility of a possible lockdown in the country, at a time when day-to-day cases are setting one record after another and hospitals are suffocating with the situation in the NSS being dramatic.

The spirit, however, is similar in the decisions concerning the operation of the schools, for which the government staff is also categorical, ruling out any possibility of suspending their operation.

Thanasis Plevris moved in the same strict wavelength of the government for horizontal measures in Greece, ruling out any scenario that spoke of closing schools, despite the nightmarish predictions of experts, even for today, where we seem to be leading to a new negative case record.

No there is no lockdown, it is not going to happen again. At the moment, the philosophy of the measures is only to protect the unvaccinated. If more measures are needed, their philosophy will not change. “The measures will have to do with restricting access to specific places or the possibility of access with tests for the unvaccinated”, said the Minister of Health to SKAI, repeating the same categorical “no” in the case of schools, where, according to him, everything is exemplary:

“Schools will remain open and you should know that at the moment the school case rates are much lower than what we had calculated when we made the educational protocol in order for them to work. So there is absolutely no reason and it is not in her thoughts. “The schools should close their schools. Their educational protocol works perfectly.”

Kerameos: “No discussion on the suspension of schools”

Niki Kerameos also moved in the same line of government regarding the schools, appearing negatively in the event of a suspension of their operation.

“Absolutely no discussion about the suspension of schools. Many thanks to the educational community for the excellent observance of the measures”, she noted, referring to a percentage representation that is said to justify the government’s decision.

Voridis: “No to lockdown even if the committee proposes it”

In every tone and in every way, Makis Voridis ruled out the possibility of imposing a lockdown, even putting aside … any suggestions of the committee, which do not seem to be strong enough to shake and differentiate the strict attitude of the government. .

Mr. Voridis removed the lockdown from the “table” of decisions, as of course the committee itself, since its possible suggestion will be ignored by the government.

As he said, speaking to SKAI, the issue of lockdown is not raised and will not be raised, even if the committee proposes it “.

After all: “The vast majority will not suffer catastrophic consequences in terms of economic, fiscal, social, cultural, freedoms because some, while having the solution, choose not to use it. Now the committee responds when asked questions.”
