Coronavirus: These are the new measures announced for the unvaccinated.

In the “shadow” of 6,700 new cases, the Minister of Health Mr. Thanos Plevris announced the new measures to stop the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic which shows that it is severe.

It is tightening the “blockade” from next Saturday, November 6, for the citizens who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19. As Mr. Plevris announced, despite the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the country, the government is not proceeding with the solution of a universal lockdown, as this year there is the main weapon against Covid-19, the vaccine, however it tightens the restrictions for the unvaccinated and intensifies persuasion efforts.

“We can not go to more severe restrictive measures as we had before, therefore we will expand the vaccination campaign by sending sms to unvaccinated citizens, but also using spots within the Media”, said the Minister of Health during the announcement of the new measures, emphasizing that the new interventions are aimed at protecting citizens who have not been vaccinated, as they are much more at risk than those who have been vaccinated.

“The weather conditions combined with the course of the pandemic are forcing us to impose new restrictions on our fellow citizens who have not been vaccinated because they are more at risk and we must protect them,” he said.

The new measures for the unvaccinated

Thus, from  Saturday 6th, new measures will apply to those who have not been vaccinated. Particularly:

Mandatory two laboratory tests (PCR or rapid test) per week for all vaccinated workers in both public and private sectors, at their own cost.

Negative rapid test for unvaccinated citizens in order to enter public services, banks, shopping malls, hairdressers (activities that are not considered necessary). Food stores (surer market), pharmacies, churches are excluded.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health recommended the use of a mask indoors and outdoors where there is overcrowding for both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

He informed that the penalties for those who do not comply with the protection measures are being upgraded, with the fines starting from 5,000 Euros and the companies being closed for 15 days. At the same time, the controls on the vaccination and disease certificates are intensified, as well as on the negative results of the tests, as well as on the identity. Finally, there will be a penalty for the teams, if the use of the mask and the other restrictions that apply to the stadiums are not observed.
