Greece:- Coronavirus updates including Zakynthos with high cases

The Omicron mutation has spawned coronavirus cases in five-digit numbers on a daily basis with the spread in the community being huge as EODY informs us.

Today, Monday, 3/1/2022, out of the total 36246 cases throughout the country, 13104 were recorded in Attica, 3856 in Thessaloniki, while two regions – Achaia and Heraklion – record a four-digit number of cases. A total of 78 deaths in the last 24 hours and 615 patients are intubated

At the same time, 615 of our fellow citizens are being treated in the ICU.

The data presented relate to cases from the epidemiological surveillance of the disease by the new coronavirus (COVID19), based on the data reported to EODY and recorded until January 3, 2022 (time 15:00).

The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 36,246, of which 38 were identified after checks at the country’s gates. The total number of cases is 1,294,741 (daily change + 2.9%), of which 50.3% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 217 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,000 are related to an already known case.  The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 78, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 20,990 deaths have been recorded. 95.1% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. The number of patients treated by intubation is 615 (58.9% men). Their median age is 63 years. 80.0% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 522 (84.88%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 93 (15.12%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,780 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 437 (daily change + 9.25%). The average seven-day admission is 413 patients. The median age of cases is 36 years (range 0.2 to 110 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

Out of the total of 36,246 new cases of the new virus in the country, 51 are imported, of which 38 were detected following checks at the country’s gateways.

 

Tested samples

From January 1, 2020 until today, in the laboratories that perform tests for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and that systematically state the total of the samples they test, a total of 8,367,786 clinical samples have been tested while from Health Units and Scales of EODY performing Rapid Ag tests 39,607,840 samples have been tested. The seven-day average is 378,646 sample checks.

Self-tests: As of January 2, 2022, 67,217,033 statements of self-tests have been recorded electronically, while 3,883,195 people came for re-examination.

Bulk Sampling EODY: On January 2, 2022, 29 sampling actions were carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) of EODY, in which 12,072 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 1,877 positive (15.55%) were found.
