Greece:- Fire raging out of control in Attiki.

Battle until nightfall
The fire, along with the huge reinforcements that have been sent, is now being operated by 350 firefighters, with 10 groups of pedestrians, 70 vehicles, the METPE (Motorized special forces of the Fire Dept.), 5 helicopters and 5 aircraft until nightfall. Numerous volunteer groups, water tankers and local government machinery assisting. The firefighting forces are coordinated by the Chief of F.D Lieutenant General Stefanos Kolokouris, while a member of the Arson Crimes Directorate (DAEE), is investigating the causes of the fire. Fire fighters from all over Greece have been sent to help combat the flames.

The situation in Varybobi is out of control.

An official evacuation order has already been given for Varybobi and the settlement of Adames. The message from 112 for a general evacuation of the residents of Varybobi and the settlement of Adames was sent shortly after 17:00. The message states: “If you are in Varybobi or Adames, evacuate to Thrakomakedones for security reasons.”
