Greece:- Measures for Travelling to Islands are tightening due to the Delta mutation.

Measures are being tightened to prevent the spread of the Delta mutation, which has alarmed the entire planet.

After the decisions for entry of the unvaccinated in closed spaces only with test, molecular and rapid, today were decided corresponding measures for the transfers from prefecture to prefecture by ferry, ships, KTEL buses and trains. In addition, it is only a matter of time that the announcement of the decision to vaccinate adolescents 15-17, will come.

For travel to the islands from Monday 5/7, a certificate of illness or vaccination, rapid test 48 hours or PCR 72 hours is required for adults.

Those under 12 travel freely and it is recommended to do a self test with the return for all over 12 years.

For minors 12-17 years old any test will be required, including the self test. From the return from the islands it is recommended to conduct a self test for all those who are over 12 years old.

Evia, Lefkada and Salamina are excluded as well as those who travel between islands or by ferries for work, who will have to do a weekly self test. At the moment there will be no changes in land travel.

Experts are on the lookout for the spread of the Delta mutation, which may have led to a small daily increase in cases in recent days. Those who are at serious risk are the unvaccinated.

“Adults 50-59 years old are twice as likely to be hospitalized due to coronary artery disease than those who are 40-49 years old,” said EKPA Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Vana Papaevangelou, in today’s briefing on coronary artery disease in the country.

“No one vaccinated under 50 has died from the Delta mutation in 53,000 diagnoses,” said Gikas Majorkinis, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at EKPA.

“We will immediately suggest the vaccination of children from 15 to 17 years old,” said among others “Ms. Papaevagellou, while earlier the Government Spokeswoman, Aristotle Peloni, noted that if given the green light, this could start immediately.

Today, the mass vaccination of prisoners in prisons across the country began with the unique JOHNSON & Johnson. 6,105 detainees have expressed interest.

Are new vaccination measures being considered?

Vaccination measures for health workers and those working in the care units for the elderly and people with special needs have been “locked”. The discussion is expected to start in the summer but their implementation according to government sources will take place in late August-early September. However, other categories of workers such as teachers, instructors, military personnel and athletes have begun to “fall” on the table. These are expected in a second discussion depending on the epidemiological data of September.
