Coronavirus – click away: Scientist against it. – Do not open on Monday!
Infectious disease specialists are negative in the opening of the retail trade with the click away method but also in regards to hair salons.
The crucial meeting of the infectious disease committee is underway on whether the lockdown will be extended and what will be done with retail and click away. According to the information so far, the experts are negative in the re-opening of the click away from Monday, something that is expected to be recorded in their suggestion. They are just as negative in the opening of hairdressers, but also in the rest of the activities that had started for some time.
Thus, it is taken for granted that click away, hairdressers, manicure – pedicure shops will remain closed at least until January 18, as the government has decided to accept any suggestion of the committee on the subject. After all, the opening of schools was a priority for the government and in this sense all other activities will go back in time, depending of course on the epidemiological situation of the coming days.
However, on Monday 11/1, kindergartens and primary schools will open and perhaps what experts fear is that a parallel opening of retail with the existing epidemiological data will increase the mobility of people and therefore the cases of coronavirus.
Papathanasis: Click away precedes hairdressers
The Deputy Minister of Development, Nikos Papathanasis gave clarifications regarding the reopening of click away and hair salons, this morning, speaking on the show “Hour of Greece” of OPEN TV. “Nothing is a fact. “Click away is a priority over hairdressers,” he added. In fact, speaking on OPEN TV’s “Hour of Greece” show, he added that there are no thoughts at the moment about click in shop.
According to Mr. Papathanasis, the authorities are waiting for the proposals of the committee of experts for the coronavirus to proceed with the announcements that, as it has become known, will be made in the afternoon by Nikos Hardalias. As for the dilemma between schools and retail, the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, replied that for the Government, the opening of schools was and is a key priority.
Sarigiannis: 2,000 cases by the end of February
Demosthenes Sarigiannis, Professor of Environment at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, expressed his concern about the opening of schools and the imminent reopening of click away, stressing that his prognostic models, which have been fully verified to date, show 2,000 cases of coronavirus per day by the end of February, which, as he said, will mean the blockage for the National Health System.
Speaking on OPEN TV’s “Hour of Greece” show, Mr. Sarigiannis said that the question now is whether retail will open with the click away method, but stressed that in this case the so-called “open-closing” will be applied in order to not put pressure on the National Health System or if we will be patient and wait for the retail to reopen when the conditions are more suitable.
Finally, the professor stated that he considers it best to open the schools on January 25. “In terms of health risk, it would really make a difference if we opened later, for example on January 25, all the schools, all the grades, in the sense that we had more certainty about what happened during the holidays,” he said.
