Greece:- Self test – Schools: Last day for supply – What will happen on Monday when schools open.

Today, Saturday, January 8, the deadline for the supply of self test by students and teachers expires, in view of the reopening of schools from Monday, after the break for the Christmas holidays.

However, as of yesterday, there are already complaints and protests about lack of self test in many pharmacies in the region and in Attica, as shown by the report of Newsit.gr.

On the occasion of these protests, government sources state that – although there were gaps in pharmacies due to increased demand – there is the necessary stock to serve all students and teachers,

Specifically, government sources state that:

By Friday night, more than 6 million test 1,287,000 beneficiaries had been available. That is, 3 out of 4 eligible students and teachers have taken their respective tests.
Due to the high demand, there were gaps in pharmacies and until late at night and early this morning, the necessary actions were taken to supply the pharmacies from the drug stores as well as from the stock of civil protection in order to cover any shortages.
The pharmacies today, the third day of the distribution of the tests to the beneficiaries, remain open until 5-6 pm and continue the free distribution to those citizens who have not received them.
It is estimated that today more than 1 million tests will be available.
There is the necessary stock to serve all beneficiaries.
It is reminded that students of all levels, vaccinated and not, as well as vaccinated teachers are entitled to a self test. They will take five free self tests from pharmacies, in order to meet the control needs of the first two weeks of reopening of the schools, ie from January 10 to January 21, 2022.

What will apply from Monday:

An additional self test for the 1st week (January 10-15) for schools, ie 3 free tests instead of 2.
The two free weekly self tests will be done by both vaccinated students and vaccinated teachers, in otherwords by ALL.
In case of a covid case found within the classroom, all children in that class will be tested. There will be two rapid and one additional self test, in addition to the two self tests. That is, five in total. The vaccinated students will do a total of three tests. The unvaccinated teachers will do the same tests as the unvaccinated students, ie the five mentioned above. Vaccinated teachers will do a total of three tests.
