A Greek actor has claimed that he has a striking resemblance with Alexander the Great. To prove his claim and -surprise! – also his Greekness, actor Spyros Bibilas posted a picture of his youth on his social media account.
He wrote among others that when he was 25 years old he was asked to play Alexander the Great in a Hollywood film.
Or something like that… or whatever.
He praised his Greekness and lashed out at all those mocking him on social media for his claim.
Some of his critics wondered what would have happened “if Skopje had named its airport Spyros Bibilas,”
In a lifestyle magazine he had said “My very distant origin is from Halkidiki [Macedonia].. I look like Alexander the Great! And when they say, “Come on, we’re not Greeks, we have an admixture, I do not have an admixture. They had called me for an American film, which was not filmed in the end, to play the role of Alexander the Great in early age. They had compared my profile with Alexander’s on a [ancient] currency. It is the same.”

Unfortunately we have no recent picture of Alexander the Great to compare the two great men.
But we got one of Bibilas.
Should Hollywood decide to make a film about the history’s most successful military commander in advanced age the actor will be the cast winner.
Ok, Aleanxder left this world at the age of 33 but who cares? It’s the Hollywood!
