Tourism Minister Haris Theocharis confirmed in an interview with BBC Radio 4 that talks were under way between the two governments to find ways to resume travel, while expressing hope for a “semi-normal” summer.
According to the British media, the “technical discussions” have begun, with vaccination passports being considered among the topics under discussion.
According to what Mr. Theocharis said, while the discussions are at a preliminary stage, he hopes that an agreement will be reached on how the trips between Greece and the United Kingdom can resume.
“We certainly hope that by the summer, with the ongoing vaccination program and the United Kingdom being one of the top countries in this regard, the situation will be much better than it is now,” he added.
More specifically, speaking to BBC Radio 4, the Minister of Tourism said that Greece is in “preliminary” talks with UK officials on how to resume travel.
