With the weather increasing and total restrictions haven’t been lifted more and more people are turning to our beaches as a way of escaping into the fresh air.
Our weather forecast up until the weekend looks like we may get to taste summer a little earlier than expected.
FORECAST:-
Sunny, very high temperatures and increased dust concentrations are expected today only, Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
The temperature will rise steadily all over the country.
In Zakynthos the weather will generally be clear, with sparse clouds in the south.
Winds will be from the Southeast 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperatures will range from a low of 12 to a high of 29 degrees Celsius.
A warning for high activity for mosquitoes is expected during these days, especially Wednesday.
Beaches, what to expect.
Without rented sunbeds and umbrellas, and without the bars functioning, those who chose to be on the beaches of Zakynthos will have to use their own equipment and lay their towels on the sand. The question, of course, is whether self-protecting measures are being applied during the coronavirus pandemic, especially with regard to the required distance of two meters. Especially now, that the weather is getting hotter a call for the measures is on the lips of our authorities.
Recommendations for bathers and beach activities.
The new “Stay Safe” campaign, which replaced “Staying at Home” in the first lifting of measures, gives us advice on how our visit to the beach should be. Specifically, it urges us to prefer, if possible, to go on a weekday, as there would be less people.
In addition, we must maintain the required social distance of two meters, while we need to avoid overcrowding. So, we have to be careful where we put our towel. The last campaign words ends with the message “Do not endanger ourselves and our fellow citizens”.
Measures to be taken at the beach:- Non organised beaches only:- You must keep a distance of 2 metres from other people around you. Gatherings of more than 10 people are not allowed. Sunbathing is allowed as long as the measures are adhered. Families are allowed to sit together but must pay special attention to hygiene.
For organised beaches a call for them to open is being looked at, perhaps earlier than expected. Some are hoping for the 25th May. At the moment announcements have not been made.
