Mitsotakis: The vaccine is free for everyone, when it comes to Greece

The coronavirus vaccine will be available free of charge to all citizens in Greece when it is ready, as announced by the Prime Minister. He acknowledged, however, that “we do not know when we will have it.”

The state will ensure the free administration of the coronavirus vaccine to all Greek citizens, when it is available,” the prime minister said during the regular coronavirus meeting.

Mr. Mitsotakis added that the State will ensure the provision of free masks to all students and teachers.
“I want to be absolutely clear, the vaccine will be available for free to all Greek citizens. We do not yet know if it will be one or if there will be more. We do not know when we will have it. We hope sooner and not later. But whenever “If we have the vaccine at our disposal, it will be available free of charge, for all Greek citizens”, stressed Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his introductory statement.

It is worth noting that a few days ago, the Minister of Health had spoken about receiving vaccines in December, something that was not confirmed by the Commission, with its representative emphasizing that “we do not have a specific date”.

Referring to the issue of masks for students and teachers, Mr. Mitsotakis said that “the Greek government will undertake to provide free masks to all children and all teachers, so that in this way it can meet its minimum obligation to be able to to provide children with the mask they request for compulsory use in schools “.

According to the Athens News Agency, the Prime Minister, referring to the issue of schools, said that all countries of the world are reopening their schools and this is the unanimous proposal of the Scientific Committee with which the Greek government is drafting.

“Schools, obviously, will be opened taking into account all the provisions suggested by the experts in order to minimize the spread of the virus. One of these provisions is the mandatory use of a mask in the classrooms for all children, starting from kindergarten and ending up in the last grade of high school, ‘said the prime minister.

At the same time, he called on the political world as a whole to take a formal and responsible position regarding the central choices made by the government in consultation with experts, for the timely reopening of schools, the mandatory use of masks and other measures aimed at protecting the public.

“What we do not need today is a cynical, aphoristic, catastrophic critique, which wrongs the effort made not only by the government, but by the country as a whole, to control this second wave of coronavirus spread. A nihilistic critique that many times “It also feeds conspiracy theories and scenarios that we must all reject responsibly and in the most absolute way,” the prime minister said.

Finally, he stressed that the government “always informs the citizens with absolute responsibility and absolute transparency” and assumes the responsibility of its policies, which at any time is ready to take corrective action in the midst of an unprecedented situation.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis requested during the meeting to be informed and discussed on Tuesday in a joint meeting of the Social and Educational Affairs Committees of the Parliament, with the presence of the Ministers of Health Vassilis Kikilias and Education Nikis Kerameos, in order to present the data, to analyze the data. and call on the parties to take a responsible position.

The teleconference was attended by the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias, the Minister of Tourism Haris Theocharis, the Minister of State George Gerapetritis, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias, the Deputy Minister of Health Vassilis Kontofyamanis under the Prime Minister responsible for the Coordination of Government Work ‘Akis Skertsos, the Deputy Minister under the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Stelios Petsas, the General Secretary of the Prime Minister Grigoris Dimitriadis, the General Secretary Fragimasos the General Secretary of the Parliament George Mylonakis, the Deputy Government Representative Aristotle Peloni, the Representative of the Ministry of Health for the coronavirus, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, the President of EODY Panagiotis Arkoumanis and Professor Deidomenos Kimon Drakopoulos.
