On this day 12/3/2020 – the first death from Covid in Greece

It was 03:15 on Thursday, March 12, 2020 when the 66-year-old from Amaliada, Manolis Agiomyrgiannakis passed way in the ICU of the University Hospital of Rio.

As announced by the Ministry of Health:

“The 66-year-old was admitted to the Negative Pressure Unit of the General Hospital of Patras on March 2, 2020 and intubated on March 6, 2020. On the morning of March 10, the patient presented significant deterioration, which developed into multiorgan failure and ended, despite treatment March 12, 2020 at 03:15 “.

Manolis Agiomyrgiannakis was a Regional Councilor in Ilia and a former PASOK executive and one of the excursionists to the Holy Land who returned from their trip with the coronavirus.

One year later (12/03/2021) the deaths from coronavirus in Greece have reached 6,937

Today on the island the 5th death from Covid was announced by the General hospital of Zakynthos. A 88 year old Zakynthian woman who had been in the Covid Clinic of the hospital for the last few days. She had also suffered from other health issues.
Our condolences to her family.

This death brings the total on the island, from Covid deaths to five.
