Today’s weather caused Zakynthos to have slight rain, practically all day, which didn’t seem to stop them locals nor our visitors to the island enjoying what our Island has to offer.
Ok…. beach weather? No, well not at least for the next few days…
According to the Weather Forecast for Monday 15/7/2019 and the Emergency Weather Sheet issued by Hellenic National Meteorological Department and which is in effect from tomorrow Tuesday 16/7/2019 until Wednesday 17/7/2019, the weather phenomena that are expected to occur in our area are:
For Monday, during the afternoon and night, there is a strong chance of heavy rains and storms, which will be accompanied locally by strong winds.
Tomorrow from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning, heavy rain and storms are expected to be accompanied by hail storms and strong winds.
Therefore, it is recommended to all residents of Zakynthos, if and when anyone is objected to such phenomena, such as heavy rainfall and intense winds to avoid unnecessary activities, especially in areas where there is a risk of landslides and local floods.
Since lately, reports have been observed and reported to us by residents and presidents of local communities about the accumulation of large quantities of litter, mattresses and other bulky objects throughout Zakynthos due to their abandonment in many places in and around the city, municipal roads, forest areas, thus making it difficult for the correct operation of the Flood plan Technical Projects that have been carried out, please contact the relevant departments of the Municipality of Zakynthos and the Managing Authority Waste carriers (F.O.D.S.A) to arrange for the collection of waste and bulky items from the Flood Control areas.
All residents, especially those in rural areas, should be especially cautious about the accumulation of waste and other objects that can cause problems in ditches, to bridges and the flow of streams.
Also, all bathers who are likely to be on beaches during the intense weather phenomena are asked to move away immediately
Finally, small ships, professional and amateur fishing boats, pleasure boats, and naval sport clubs, should avoid their activation and take care of storing their craft during the time of the phenomena.
All the services involved and the Voluntary Organizations are kindly requested to be on hand.
