PRESS RELEASE
MAYOR OF PAUL KOLOKOTSA
TO THE ZAKYNTHIAN PEOPLE
Upon completion of my five-year term in the Zakynthos Municipality, I would like to warmly thank all Zakynthians. The 60% of the votes I received in the 2014 elections from my fellow citizens, with zero infrastructure, gave me the strength to fight in difficult times for the good of Zakynthos and my fellow citizens.
The financial difficulties of our country, within the financial crisis of the last five years, have not, however, prevented us from preparing the strategic planning of projects from the European Union appropriations and National funds with projects over 80 million euros.
Specifically, projects such as the interim waste management system, lighting at the Venetian castle, the water supply (Tamari Lithakia), road construction, Solomos Square. Town Hall renovations, the new Zakynthos Theater in which is still continuing. Upgrading of the wastewater treatment centre, energy upgrading in the form of electricity and other ongoing projects with secured loans, as well as the waste management plant, slaughterhouses, mountain water supply such as Lucha-Gyri and other water and sanitation projects. As well as other works shown in the strategic planning such as playgrounds, kindergartens etc.
It is also worth noting the Study for the utilization of the global tourist destination “Shipwreck” with the permission of the Forestry Office.
Thanks once again to the Zakynthians and Zakynthians everywhere, wishing all health, strength and Prosperity.
In regards to the new Mayor of Zakynthos, Nikitas Aretakis, I wish him all the best and I believe today where economic conditions have changed and the foundations of the infrastructure for Zakynthos have been laid, may he have health, strength and success in his projects.
THE MAYOR OF ZAKYNTHOS
PAVLOS KOLOKOTSA
