Yesterday four people arrested after an incident involving Roma – “After their arrest they threatened us in front of the police that they would burn us alive if we did not withdraw the lawsuit,” the business owner tell the newspaper protothema.gr
Audacity showed a group of Roma in Zakynthos whose members initially stole products from a refreshment shop, and when told not to do it again, caused an incident and injured an employee.
According to protothema.gr, when the four of the perpetrators were arrested and taken to the police station, more threats against the business owner and his brother continued. Demanding that they withdraw the lawsuit otherwise, as they said “we will burn you alive!”with no reaction from the police present.
The first of the videos posted by protothema.gr shows a Roma woman with underage children taking products from the shelves without paying for them on Saturday night.
“We told her ‘go away and don’t come back’ and she swore at my brother. We went to the police station and they told us not to file a lawsuit, ”says business owner Andreas Plessas to protothema.gr.
The second video records the moment when a total of six people went to Mr Plessa’s business at noon on Sunday and began screaming, threatening and throwing objects at an injured employee.
“After the attack, we went to the Police Station and filed a lawsuit after which four of the perpetrators were arrested. There, in fact, they threatened us in front of the police that they would burn us alive if we did not withdraw the lawsuit, “says Plessas angrily at protothema.gr.
According to him, they are Roma who have been living in the city of Zakynthos for months.
What is striking, after all this, is that Mr Plessas’ brother is also in the detention center as the Roma have sued him after their arrest.
