After the announcement by the UK Government in regards to international travel, tour operators saw an increase in bookings.
Tui
The UK’s biggest travel operator Tui confirmed a 500 per cent increase in overnight bookings with high demand for Greece, Spain and Turkey.
Andrew Flintham, Managing Director TUI UK and Ireland, said: “The announcement from the PM was positive and shows that by working with the travel industry on a risk-based framework, our customers will have the opportunity to travel abroad this summer.”
The company has also confirmed holidaymakers due to travel between May 17, and the end of June can change their booking to a later date for free.
Easyjet
EasyJet said its flight bookings for the summer season increased by 337 per cent and its holiday bookings rose 630 per cent.
The budget airline said Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Crete were among the top destinations, and August is proving the most popular time for travel.
Flights booked with Easyjet can be altered or refunded should your travel plans change.
EasyJet also says it’ll “beat the price” if you find the same holiday cheaper elsewhere.

The airline has decided to extend the suspension of all flights up to and including April 14 (April 26 for Iceland) “due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and government travel restrictions”.
Flights will resume on April 15, 2021.
Good news for holidaymakers looking for some sun in autumn, though, as Jet2 extended the summer 21 season with more flights and holidays to the Greek islands of Zakynthos, Crete (Heraklion), Rhodes and Kefalonia.
