Normally at this time of year the famous shipwreck at Navagio is greeting boats of tourists from all over the world.
This year we have learned that visitors of a different kind have arrived on the beach. Last week on the 8 June, turtle tracks on the beach were spotted by a former ARCHELON volunteer, leading ARCHELON to believe that a turtle may have chosen Navagio beach to nest on.
It’s not unusual for turtles to nest here, they have done so in the past, although it’s rarer than the southern beaches of the island. We’ll have to wait and see whether the famous beach produces any young turtles, but we will bring you any further news, as and when we hear!
Thank you to Vasiliki Kyvelou for the great photo and to Anna Lamaj for the information. If you would like to learn more about the incredible work ARCHELON do then please visit their website.
