The game at the municipal stadium between Doksa Pigadakia and Pangytheatikou took place, at noon, on Sunday. The islanders did what they had to do, ‘crushed’ their opponents with 5-0 making history and their dream, of the second national division, come true.
A clear score, which shows the superiority of the players of Yannis Vertzagia finishing in second place with 25 points, behind Ikarus Petroto who finished in first place with 33 points. In 3rd place, with 22 points, is Niki Traganou, who had a day-off (13th).
Now no matter what happens in the last game (14th) everything has been judged. Even a loss against Argos, the Zakynthians dominated in the game against Niki Traganou.
At 26′, Kristana was the one who, from the right side, sent the ball into the net thus opening the door to the next category. Three minutes later, at 29′, Antiohus with an amazing execution of a foul ‘locked’ their promotion and created preconditions to set up a crazy party. 2-0, that was the score at half time. In the second half, the girls of the Doksa couldn’t be stopped, they continued to press for the third goal which came from Sfalagakou with an own goal at 65′. At 67′ it was the turn of Faskai to make it 4-0 and Voutsina, the best player of Doksa, made the final 5-0 for her team. Antiohus, at 78′, hit the post.
The womens team of Doksa Pigadakia Glory are going to the 2nd national division having had an amazing year. Laughter, joy and tears of emotion were the feelings which prevailed at the end of the match as players, coaching staff and friends of the team became tangled celebrating this great and historic promotion to the 2nd womens’ national division for the new season.
Doksa will finish the season with the away match against Plataniti.
Referee was the experienced N. Stavropoulos with linesmen Karamero and Liapi, all from Ilia county.
