THURSDAY 7/3 (TSIKNOPEMPTI – BBQ THURSDAY)
The whole island smells of “Tsikno”! BAGORTHES home made BBQs will be heated up ready to celebrate CARNIVAL.
12:00 noon The Amateur Theatrical Club of Agios Kirikos “O Martelaos” invites you to ‘Tsiknisma (bbq-ing)’ in Aggerikos (Village) Square.

6:30 p.m. The entry of the Carnival King takes place starting point St. Lazaros, then making his way through the town.
The Mayor will announce the start of Carnival 2024 with fireworks and music at Solomos Square.

8:00 p.m. TSI ZAKYTHOS THEATRE is staging the adaptation by Stathis Piscopos of Goldoni’s Comedy SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS. At the new Municipal Theatre.

5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Carnival Art Workshop. The visual artist and folklorist, Athena Lykouresi will welcome our little carnivalists in the hall of the Cultural Centre to share with them hidden secrets of her Art.

Bring your favorite four-legged friends to take part in our beauty pageants. Larry, our committee chair, will award the winners. The ZanteStrays and Zakynthos Animal Care Group groups will be with us to inform us about their actions. We will all be giving them a warm hug and keep them in our hearts and minds.

3:00 p.m. LITHAKIA CULTURAL CENTER. The group of the People’s Theatre of Lithakia “KOSTAS SKANTALIS” is presenting an omilia of Yiannis Pomonis”The Curious” in the courtyard of the Cultural Centre of Lithakia (old Primary School). The club’s dance departments will also participate.

3:30 p.m. THE GREAT PARADE… Starting from the intersection (loumda) parading through the town to Solomos Square
7:30 pm POVERO CARNIVAL the only one of its kind all of Greece….. with up-to-date tricks and surprises.
The Mayor of Zakynthos will announce the start of CARNIVAL 2025.
8:30 p.m. “Marouloskorda (lettuce & garlic)”. The group of the “Venetian Wedding in Tzante of the 16th century” by Antonis Milanos, accompanied by fireworks, will continue the “Adeti” of the “Lettuce & Garlic” in the Holy Church of Aghios Nikolaos of Molos.
9:30 p.m. The Cultural Association of Kypseli “O Kefalovrysos” is organisi9ng a Halloween party at “Stavrodromi” in Kypseli.
10:30 p.m. Dance of the Carnival committee at the Cultural Centre (Casino) where the Mayor will cut the traditional lagana.
