The Megalo Savato as we say here in Zakynthos, as most are busy preparing for Easter Sunday, tonight will be a special one for every Zakynthian, it is tonight that all will be waiting for the Holy Light.
The Holy Light comes from the Holy Sepulchre of Chist where the light comes forth from the small chapel enclosing the tomb. This year it was the Patriach Theofilos who had the honours to enter the tomb and wait patiently for the light to enter. At exactly 2.35 p.m local time in the Holy lands the light descended.

Tonight it will have arrived by aeroplane here in Zakynthos around 21.15p.m and it will be distributed across the Island. At exactly Midnight tonight our priest will call out “Christos Anesti” meaning Christ has risen and all will carry the Holy light back to their homes.
