Zakynthos among the most popular Greek islands for Czech Republic and Poland

The Ionian Islands Region, recognizing the importance of the ever-increasing interest and consequent demand of Czechs for the Ionian Islands, participated together with the Hellenic Tourism Organization in the exhibition “Holiday World & Region World”, held from 18 to 20 March 2022 in Prague, Czech Republic.
The Region organized a mission by officials of the Tourist Promotion self-monitoring team, Konstantinos Ypsilantis, Georgios Papavlasopoulos and Chrysoula Maxouti, to target the emerging market of the Czech Republic.

It was the first participation after many years and is the beginning of the consolidation of the Region in the Czech market and part of our wider promotion in this market.
In the context of this participation, the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT) achieved the first distinction in the awards of the best stand and presentation of co-authors (First Place Greek National Tourism Organization – The Most Impressive Exposition).

At the same time, in a meeting held with the participation of members of the delegation and the Director of EOT Poland and the Czech Republic, Nikoletta Nikolopoulou, as well as the Public Relations Officer of the Central Service of EOT, Despina Xylouris, a trip was made to our islands with the aim of promoting them in the media of the Czech Republic and Poland.

According to the GNTO, thousands of travellers from the Czech Republic and Poland visiting the Greek islands every year, both countries are considered among Greece’s main source tourism markets.

It is also worthy to note that Greece is among the top three holiday destinations for Czech travellers. Whilst data provided by the GNTO, Poland last year was Greece’s fourth largest tourism market. A total of 837,007 air travelers from Poland arrived in Greece in 2021.

The islands of Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Corfu and Kos are among the most popular Greek destinations for Polish travellers.
