Zakynthos:- “ANASA” for the port, The coastal front of the city is in danger of collapsing

The issue of the safety of citizens from a possible collapse of the coastal front on the waterfront of the city of Zakynthos, questions will be raised by the fraction “ANASA”  in the next Regional Council.

To this end, the Ionian Islands Regional Governor is asked if she is aware of the problem, if she discussed it during her recent visit to Zakynthos with the technical services and in any case, what she intends to do to correct the image of the port and restore security.

The problem has existed for many months, according to the information provided by the Regional Councilor Athanasios Karaiskos, who adds that “finally it has deteriorated dangerously as shown in the photos. There is a separation of part of the sidewalk towards the sea, while the problem obviously does not concern only the Port Fund “.

Regarding the situation as it has been formed, Mr. Karaiskos points out that “until the summer there was a plastic grid of several meters that prevented access. During the summer it was removed so as not to disturb tourists aesthetically, without any intervention. The coastal sidewalk is of course adjacent to the coastal road which has a heavy traffic load, heavy vehicles pass and of course the sea pressure is constant and requires immediate action. Also, in another part of the port of Zakynthos there is a high -useless- construction which is obviously sloping and is particularly dangerous, as well as soil separation. Is this space is protected? Only with a ribbon, this of course, is removed every now and then. ”.

It does not fail to stand in the aesthetic part for which “in the same place- for a long time a large part of the coastal sidewalk has been cemented -very unskilled- and this is a big disagreement in relation to the rest of the sidewalk which is of high aesthetic value. It is obvious that this does not fit the culture of Zakynthos “.
