11:00 am Through the streets of Zakynthos town the Delalides (TOWN CRIERS) announce the start of Carnival 2023, from Agios Lazaros to Agios Markos Square!
11:00 a.m. BBQ in Vasilikos. Tsikinopempti celebrations in Vassilikos all are invited!
12:00pm Continuing the tradition of Tsiknopepti, the Municipal Authority, the Mayor Mr. Nikitas Aretakis and the Deputy Mayor of Arkadion and Zakynthos, Mr. Dimitrios Kandilas, are organizing a BBQ within the outdoor area of the Arkadion Town Hall, Vanatou! Open to all!
1:00pm ‘Tsiknopempi with Tsou Argassiotes’ in Argasi. The Argasi team invite all to their BBQ Candy Shop!!!
A true Zakynthian Traditional feast with roasts, plenty of wine, clowns for the kids and guest DJ, live music and many surprises!! If you want true Zakynthian Carnival, don’t miss ARGASI!!
6:30 pm The Carnival King ceremony taking place from the area known as Kamara Agios Lazaros to Agios Markos Square.
OPENING OF THE CARNIVAL, With the theme “XANTHOULA”
The Entry of the Carnival King and the Carnival Queen in Zakynthos Town is a fact! The Delalides, The band of the Municipality of Zakynthos, The “May Poles” accompanied by the masquerade and the carnival committee head down to Agios Markos Square where the Mayor of Zakynthos and the Deputy Mayor of Culture will officially announce the start of Carnival 2023! This is followed by an interactive party for young and old with many surprises. DO NOT MISS IT!
*In case the weather conditions do not allow it, the party will be moved to the reception area of the new Municipal Theater.
•The organization of the event has been undertaken by the Carnival Volunteer Group.•
8:30pm The Artistic Workshop organizes a traditional Carnival party at Alexandrou Roma 31
9:30pm The Green Dance ‘At the Casino’ – Spiritual Center (Solomos Square)… Get dressed in GREEN and join in on the fun!
The Zakynthos Expatriate Association “Andreas Kalvos” in collaboration with the Zakynthos National Council, the Association of Retired Civil Servants, the dance group ‘To FIORO tou LEVANTE’ and the Traditional Music and Dance group ‘Yakinthi’, under the auspices of the Municipality of Zakynthos, are reviving the Dance of the green’, at the Cultural Center of Zakynthos.
Its history begins in the 19th century, where old Zakynthians had invented a carnival night, with the aim of dedicating it to “mother nature”, in which she is reborn at this time. It used to take place in the Lombard Casino. This evening includes a purely Zakynthian Carnival program and nostalgic urban dances such as Cantriles, Lanceries, Mazurkas, Polkas and others will be danced by the dance group ‘Yakinthi’ and ‘FIORO Tou LEVANTE’. Entry is free for all carnival goers, who are kindly requested to be dressed in green clothes and in the colors of nature.

The Skoulikados Cultural Association grants the Skoulikados Cultural Center and organizes a children’s Carnival party, with the aim of hosting all our little carnival-goers and asks for everyone’s participation! Entry is free!

Horses and their carriages will start from St. Paul’s Square and will reach St. Mark’s Square, making many stops in between! On the carriages there will be singers to give everyone unique melodies.

1:30pm Keriotikos Wedding in Keri
The Cultural Association of Keri “Ambelos”, is holding the Carnival event “Keriotikos Wedding”. The traditional customs of the Keriotiko Wedding, the announcement of the joyous event, the preparation of the bride, the wedding of the brides-to-be under the barrels and sbaras, the skartsofoli and its treats, are set up in the “Misochori” of picturesque Keri. The escort of the couple with music and treats for all present will end up on the platform of the Church of Panagia tis Keriotissa, where after watching the play “Two Grooms and a Bride” and learning how the Newlyweds met, we will celebrate the secular event ala old, with a traditional Zakynthian feast.
3:00 p.m. Traditional Omilia in Aggerikos Zakynthos by the Cultural Association “Antonis Martelaos”
The Cultural Association of Aggerikos “Antonis Martelaos” will present in the courtyard of the Aggerikos Kindergarten the play “Count Amyryalis” by Nionis Arvanitakis.
3:00pm Traditional Omillia in Machiradou Square
The Cultural Association of Machiradou “Agia Mavra” organizes the Carnival event “The Crowns” within the square of Agia Mavra. The event will include the play by the Folk Theater Group of our association “The Mismatches of Niobe” by Nikos Gousetis, as well as you will watch dances and songs from our dance departments.
•After the event there will be a treat from the groom to the world.
6:30 p.m. Sergiani in the Streets of the City by the Bands of the municipality.
The bands of the municipality of Zakynthos will fill the town of Zakynthos with cheerful melodies.
9:00 p.m. Carnival party From the Association ‘Giostra di Zante’
The Cultural Association ‘Giostra di Zante’ invites all members, friends and anyone who is in the mood for dancing to a typical zakynthian carnival Party in Kypseli, Zakynthos.

The parade starts from Agios Lazaros and ends at Solomos Square. The little carnivalists of our island, will parade with fun and joy in the town of the island.
5:00pm Presentation of dances on the Stage located at Agios Markos square.
• The A.G.S. Zakynthos Ilida, Association of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Aerobic Gymnastics, Aesthetic Gymnastics and Gymnastics for All, will present Modern Choreographies with Gymnastics elements.
•The Team of selected athletes of the Zakynthos Olympiad will present a Gymnastics program.
•Dance class by Elisia will present hip hop and freestyle dances.
• Hip hop and contemporary dances will be presented by the Athletic Club Athlokinisa.
8:00pm The Greek Traditional Dance Group ‘Syrtis’ invites you to its Carnival dance, at the Voujiato community office upstairs! The theme of the evening will be ‘The Hat’. 6:00pm Carnival Mask Making Workshop At the Cultural Center of Zakynthos, located in Solomos Square.
• Our dear little carnivalists, you are all invited to the cultural center to paint to the theme of Carnival!
The folklorist and artist, beloved by Zakynthians, Ms. Athena Lykouresi, will be at the venue to help our little painters create and share artistic secrets of artistic development with them!
•Immediately after the Mask Making workshop, the musician, pedagogue and piano teacher, mr. Chrysoula Lykouresi will do various musical motor activities with the children!
We suggest our little carnival goers wear their costumes and come!

The Folk Theater Group of Lithakia ‘Kostas Skandalis’ presents the play of Dionysios Roma ‘STITIKETSA’
The event will be accompanied by the Mandolinata and the Lithakia Choir, conducted by Mr. Takis Korianitis.

‘Venetian Wedding’ in Gade 16th century, by Antonis Milanos.
The Procession will gather and start, in front of the building of the Prefecture of Zakynthos.
-This year, in 2023, the show is dedicated, as a tribute, to its initiator and creator, Antonis Milano, painter and national engraving artist, where his historical and visual work is a legacy for the nation, a selfless cultural contribution to Zakynthos and beyond.
– With the action of the Venetian Wedding, we mentally go back seven hundred years by carrying out a “Dzantiotiko” Wedding, with a taste of Venice and dominant elements of the era.
-Watch the performance that has become an institution since 2004. It is the first Venetian Event in the recent Cultural History of Zakynthos that provokes our imagination when we see elegant Renaissance figures in theatrical costumes, exact replicas of the 16th century, in a feast of colors, indisputable elegance and Charis, accompanied by instruments, trumpets, drums, etc
Kinesiology is reminiscent of opera, while baroque sounds fill the atmosphere.
Do not miss the reception of the victorious Bridegroom from the great Naval Battle of Lepanto, when with bells and drums, we will welcome him!

3:00pm GRAND CARNIVAL PARADE
The big parade with the Carnival King and all the Carnival Groups will start from the arch of Agios Lazaros and end at Solomos Square.
5:00pm St. Mark’s Square
After the end of the big parade, the dance group ‘Yakinthi’ will present urban dances of Zakynthos in Agios Markos Square.
7:30pm POVERO CARNIVAL
It’s time to say goodbye to the Carnival King. You will watch his magnificent funeral with dances, songs and songs. He will be accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Zakynthos, relatives and many sad carnival goers. The procession starts from Analipsi and ends at Saint Mark’s Square. There he will hear the last goodbye from his relatives and will be surrendered to the pyre.
– At the end of the event, there will be fireworks.

12:00 pm Koulouma in Tsilivi (Kite Flying day!) Official starting day of Great Lent!
The Cultural Association of Planos “To Tsilivi” in the picturesque port of Vardiola, will present the new “omilia” of Spyros Mavrias “Our Diamond Vine”. The Cultural Association will offer free Lenten snacks, refreshments and plenty of wine. The event will include a DJ, live music and the play will be accompanied by the Hyakinthi dance group.
