Α fire that broke out in the area of Kambi about two hours ago is in full progress. Strong forces of the Fire Department are on the scene in order to limit the rather large front. Although Zakynthos was on high fire alert, the winds are not very strong. Due to the large front however, it is not at all easy to control the fire at this particular time.
In terms of air support, an Erickson made some drops and a Pezetel, however for the time being the canarders have not appeared, which at the same time are helping the big fire that has broken out in the Prefecture of Ilia, across on the mainland. In addition there are 30 firefighters with 12 vehicles operating at the scene.
Near the scene of the fire are also our local authorities, Zakynthos Member of Parliament D. Aktypis, Zakynthos Mayor N. Aretakis, Deputy Mayor of civil protection Christos Pastras and Head of civil protection Maria Mouzaki, while other representatives of the authorities arrive in order to help as much as they can to contain the fire.
