The warm air masses moving from North Africa will hit our country tomorrow and will cause a significant rise in temperature.
Specifically
Tuesday (27-7-2021).
It is pointed out that from Thursday (29-7-2021) until Tuesday
(3-8-2021) the temperature will be very high throughout Greece.
More specifically:
- On Tuesday (27-7-2021) high temperatures will prevail in
western, central and northern country. The highest temperatures
provided to be noted:
- Mainland Greece: In western Sterea, the interior of Epirus
and Thessaly (up to 39 to 40 degrees Celsius) and in the central
Macedonia (up to 38 to 39 degrees Celsius)
- Island Greece: In the Ionian Islands (up to 35 to 36 degrees
Celsius).
- On Wednesday (28-7-2021) high temperatures will prevail in
almost the whole country. The highest prices will be noted:
- Mainland Greece: In western Sterea and Thessaly (up to 40 with
41 degrees Celsius) and in central Macedonia and its interior
Epirus (up to 39 to 40 degrees Celsius)
- Island Greece: In the Ionian Islands, of the eastern Aegean
and the Dodecanese (up to 37 degrees Celsius).
- On Thursday (29-7-2021) high temperatures will prevail throughout
the country. The highest prices are expected to be noted:
- Mainland Greece: In western Sterea and Thessaly (up to 41 with
42 degrees Celsius) and in central Macedonia and its interior
Epirus (up to 40 to 41 degrees Celsius)
- Island Greece: In the Ionian Islands (up to 38 to 40 degrees
Celsius) and the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese
(up to 37 to 38 degrees Celsius).
From Friday (30-7-2021) until Tuesday (3-8-2021)
Temperatures will fluctuate at particularly high levels and maximums
its temperatures, within the mainland, will reach around them
43 degrees Celsius, while temperatures will remain high and
overnight, with minimum values above 25
with 26 degrees Celsius.

Announcing to its residents and especially to those who belong to vunerable groups to follow the measures provided during the heatwave and avoid uneccessary movements during this time.
Due to very high temperatures that is expected within our area the Vice Governor, Mr. George Stasinopoulos has requested to the President of O.Δ.Α.Ζ, Mr Dionysios Kamvasis to allow airconditioned rooms be available to the public and according to coronavirus measures. The area will be open tomorrow Tuesday 27 July, 2021 and until it is required depending on the weather conditions that will prevail within the region of Zakynthos.

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) of the Ministry of Civil Protection, has informed the competent state services involved, as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, in order to be on increased alert for civil protection, in order to deal immediately with the effects of the prevalence of high temperatures.
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection advises citizens to be very careful, taking measures to protect themselves from the dangers posed by the prevalence of high temperatures.
In areas where high temperatures are predicted, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) draws attention to people belonging to vulnerable groups to be especially careful in the coming days, to avoid health problems such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can be caused by the high temperatures that will prevail.
In particular, according to the instructions for self-protection from high temperatures, it is recommended to the citizens:
Stay cool and shady away from crowds, use air conditioners or fans, and avoid strenuous physical work in areas with high temperatures, apnea, and high humidity.
Avoid sunbathing, such as walking or running in the sun, and wear a hat and sunglasses and light-colored clothing that allows the skin to ventilate and facilitates the evaporation of sweat, avoiding synthetic fabrics.
Eat light meals with fruits and vegetables, reducing fat and the amount of food.
Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, avoiding alcohol.
Special care is recommended for babies and young children, as well as the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases to protect them from high temperatures.
