• One million euros for slaughterhouses. Today the discussion in the Municipal Council
In regrads to the increase of the cases on the island and the meetings that will take place with the participation of the Hospital and the Ionian Region, the approval of one million euros for the construction of the new slaughterhouse, the next target projects and its recent statements which caused a sense of “interventions” by the Hellenic Police force (ELAS). The mayor of Zakynthos, Nikitas Aretakis, spoke to “HMERA”.

Mr. Aretakis announced a few days ago that the Ministry of Development and the Region satisfied the request of the Municipality and approved the allocation of one million euros for the construction of slaughterhous. The fund comes from the Public Investment Program. “We found the plot and on Wednesday (today) the approval of the price will go through the Municipal Council and then, we will sign the purchase contract with a notary and we will proceed with the construction. The study is being prepared and has progressed. We hope to start construction very soon. From 2012 they were educated to buy a plot of land and the Municipal Council met. So we have 9 years since this idea started. It is finally moving forward. ” For the other target projects of the municipal authority, he said: “We signed a contract for the reconstruction of Tavoulari. We are signing for the Open Mall and for the upgrade in the area of Agios Charalambis to the Workers’ Homes. Now we will start the projects. Every restrictive measure has a direct impact on everyone’s work and that is a problem. I hope that the number of vaccinated people will also increase. The attendance of the public in the Municipality, after the announcement of the measures was greatly reduced. We will have contacts and meetings with both the Region and the Hospital. We will see how we can pass this new reality without problems “.
“I am satisfied with the work of the Police”
