More cases of coronavirus causing concern for our local authorities.
The new cases that have been confirmed are the wife of the 88-year-old, who was positive on Tuesday morning. Also the grandmother of the last two young people (18-year-old & 10-year-old) aged 87. Another case where a 76-year-old had contact with one of the latest cases and a 46-year-old who still does not know if the virus was caught from another case.
It seems that one case after the other, are popping up.
In addition to the above two more new confirmed cases were added.
They are a 30-year-old, without having any connection to a previous case, and a 79-year-old, who was found after tracking, of previous cases.
It is not yet known whether any of the cases will be treated at the covid-19 clinic, which treats 4 people.
Regarding the 10-year-old student who was found today, Tuesday 26th of January to be positive, and according to Mr. Evangelos Angelousis – Head of Primary Education of Zakynthos,
“Tracking protocol was made and submitted to the Director of Public Health and Social Welfare and at the moment he is preparing his proposal for the closure of class D1 at the Primary School of Kampos that the student attends. Thus, around 35 students, teachers and other staff will be quarantined for 14 days as provided by the protocol “.
Authorities concerned.
A very critical teleconference took place today at noon at 13.30 at the Ionian Islands Regional offices in which all the Ionian Civil Protection bodies participated, as well as other bodies. The reason for the teleconference is the concern of growing cases on our island, where further measures will be discussed, while other issues concerning the island of Zakynthos will also be discussed.
The cases in Zakynthos have an increasing tendency and this has worried the local authorities, which are trying to find a way to deal with the situation.
