Zakynthos:- The road in Kryoneri is closed for 15 days

After the sudden collapse of the stone retaining wall of the provincial road that passes through Kryoneri, about 50 meters up from the church Panagia Kryoneritissa that occurred on Sunday (9/1) and by decision of the Police Directorate, the road will be closed for 15 days. Traffic will be diverted from Akrotiri, through Filikon street, with the installation of a construction signal that will allow the rotation of traffic to be directed into one lane near the point of road work.

In the relevant announcement of the Hellenic Police, it is reported: “It is prohibited for any vehicle to pass from the height of the old aqueduct upm until the junction of the provincial road Zakynthos – Planou with the anonymous municipal road that leads to the hill of Bohali, from 15:00 on 10-01-2022 and for period of fifteen (15) days, ie until 25-01-2022. The diversion of traffic will be carried out from Akrotiri, through Filikon street with the installation of a construction sign that will allow the rotation of the traffic to be directed into one lane that will be available at the place of execution of the road works “.

The Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos, Katerina Mothoneou, noted: . Early in the morning we proceeded with the necessary actions for the immediate start of the restoration works and at the same time all the necessary measures are taken in order for them to start as soon as possible. As in any natural disaster, our first and foremost concern is the safety of the citizens and the immediate restoration of the damages with substantial interventions. We ask for the understanding of our fellow citizens as until the completion of the works it will not be possible for the traffic to pass through this point “.
